1840 - CREATION OF THE WORKSHOP BY CÉLESTIN JAMES

A family of craftsmen, lover of wood and a profession: the cabinetmaking ... It is thus that in 1840, the history of the house James begins.
Since then, several generations have succeeded, making live this small workshop located in a Norman village near the bay of Mont-Saint-Michel.

1955 - LOCAL CRAFTS

In the continuity of his father Paul, Roger James continues the local activity of his small country workshop. It meets the needs of the stages of village life and provides, for example, cradles as well as a funeral service.

1970 - THE BEGINNING OF DIVERSIFICATION

In addition to the traditional activity of the workshop, the 1970s mark the beginning of the diversification of the activity. The workshop is moving more and more towards an offer of carpentry as well as a specialization on the copy of antique furniture in Norman style.

1983 - RESUMPTION OF THE WORKSHOP BY RÉMI JAMES

Rémi James, fifth generation of James, was the main actor of the development of this small workshop. Upon his arrival at the head of the company, the workshop had only three people and made mainly copies of antique furniture.
Soon, Remi James, will bring the company into a new era while choosing to stay in a rural environment to preserve the expertise and skills of men.

1987 - EDITION AND MANUFACTURE OF CONTEMPORARY FURNITURE

The turn of modernity is taken ... The James House turns to the edition and manufacture of contemporary furniture.
Little by little, house starts working with designers.

1988 - JAMES COMPANY STARTS ITS EXPANSION

The workshop expands as the company does. Faced with the new needs of the market, the company continues its development with a new workshop of 600 m2 and now has a staff of 20 people.

1992 - A COMPANY IN CONSTANT DEVELOPMENT

In response to the boom in the contemporary furniture market, the James company doubles its workforce and adds another 1500 m2 of floor space. The company develops the engineering part and creates its design office.

1995 - PLANNING

The company continues its ascent ... It is now a team of 60 people, the beginning of the integration of the digital tools and 3 big poles of activity which are the residential layout of luxury, the hotel and the yachting .
The company is gaining more and more notoriety and the most prestigious places are beginning to appeal to James House.

2000 - RESTRUCTURING AND CONTINUATION OF MODERNIZATION

The strong growth of the company and the market brings a lot of restructuring. There are now 80 people in the company and it is developing the tertiary business by adding a new study office of 500 m2. The renewal of premises also involves the creation of a new facade and the installation of modern equipment responding to the needs of a high-end finishing products.

2005 - PARISIAN OFFICE AND INTERNATIONAL MARKET

To firmly anchor its presence at the national level, the company is now inaugurating its new Paris offices. With its new management and management team, it is also opening up internationally. The James Company now responds to requests from all over Europe and is also present in the Russian and Middle Eastern markets.

2018 - JAMES CHANGE ITS SKIN

Far from the small artisan workshop of the beginnings, James is now the French company whose experience and soul are solicited by the most prestigious customers all around the globe. Always striving for excellence, the company continues to grow with a new brand identity and the creation of new offers.
